say / tell / talk / speak の違いと使い分け！1分でわかる図解と例文ガイド
日本語は「言う」「話す」の2語で済みますが、英語は say / tell / talk / speak の4語。文法構造が違うので、「He said me that...」「I spoke him」という間違いが生まれます。4つの使い分けを図解で完全マスターしましょう。

なぜ4つもあるのか
日本語の「言う・話す」は1つの動詞で済みますが、英語は「何に焦点があるか」で動詞を選びます。①言葉そのもの（say）、②伝える相手（tell）、③言語・フォーマルな発話（speak）、④相互の会話（talk）。焦点を見極めるのがコツです。

say vs tell：目的語のルール
tell は必ず「人」を目的語に取ります。 Tell me, tell her, tell them。一方 say は「内容」だけを取ります。人を出すなら to が必要：say to me。これが「He told that...」と「He said me that...」が誤りになる理由です。
speak vs talk：前置詞とフォーマル度

よくある質問
「say to me」と「tell me」は同じですか？
ほぼ同じですが、tell me の方が自然で頻度が高いです。say to me は引用に近い場面で使います：He said to me, "Good morning".
「speak about」と「talk about」の違いは？
意味は同じ（〜について話す）です。talk about が一般的、speak about はフォーマルなニュアンスです。
