"Tell me about yourself"
यह interview का पहला और सबसे ज़रूरी सवाल है — इसका अच्छा जवाब पूरे interview का mood set कर देता है। यहाँ आपकी पूरी life story नहीं, 90 second का structured जवाब चाहिए: नाम → अभी क्या कर रहे हैं → एक key skill → यह role क्यों। पूरा framework और ready lines हमारे Self introduction guide में step-by-step दिए हैं — वहाँ से शुरू करें, फिर बाक़ी सवालों की practice करें।
"What are your strengths?"
इस सवाल में ज़्यादातर लोग adjectives की फ़ेहरिस्त गिना देते हैं — hardworking, honest, punctual, team player। लेकिन यह सब कोई भी बोल सकता है। असली जवाब में एक quality + एक छोटा proof होता है। दो model answers देखिए:
Model answer 1: "My biggest strength is problem-solving. For example, when our reports used to take two days every month, I built a simple Excel sheet that finished the job in an hour."
Model answer 2: "I stay calm under pressure. During our last project, the deadline moved up by a week, and I re-planned my tasks so nothing was delayed."
हिंदी explanation: दोनों जवाबों का pattern एक है — My strength is [quality]. For example, [छोटी कहानी]. Fresher हों तो college project, internship या घर से सीखी कोई skill भी proof की तरह चलेगी। झूठी बड़ी बात बनाने से अच्छा है कि छोटी सच्ची example दें।
"What is your weakness?"
यह tricky सवाल है। "मेरी कोई weakness नहीं" बोलना झूठ लगता है, और "मैं बहुत lazy हूँ" जैसी सच्चाई job पर सीधा नक़ारात्मक असर डालती है। सही तरीक़ा है honest-but-strategic framing — वही weakness बताइए जो आप सुधार रहे हैं, और fix की बात ख़ुद बोलिए:
Model answer: "I sometimes spend extra time on details, which slows me down. I've started setting time limits for each task, and it's been working well."
Model answer (fresher): "Public speaking makes me nervous. I've been volunteering to present in group projects to get more comfortable with it."
हिंदी explanation: ध्यान दें दोनों जवाबों का structure — [हल्की weakness] + [इसे कम करने का तरीक़ा जो अभी चल रहा है]। वही weakness न चुनें जो इस job की मुख्य ज़रूरत है — sales job में "मैं strangers से बात करने में झिझकता हूँ" मत बोलिए। और "I am a perfectionist" जैसा बासी जवाब अब interviewers पकड़ लेते हैं।
"Why do you want to work here?" और 5 years का सवाल
इन दोनों सवालों का असली मतलब एक है — क्या आपने हमारे बारे में सोचा है, और क्या आप यहाँ रहेंगे या 6 महीने में जाएँगे।
Why do you want to work here? — "I've seen that your team works on products for small businesses, and that's the space I want to grow in. This role matches my skills, and I can see myself learning a lot here."
Where do you see yourself in 5 years? — "In five years, I'd like to be handling bigger projects and maybe leading a small team. That's why I'm looking for a place where I can grow step by step."
Polite English phrase |
|---|---|
| पहले range जानना चाहें | I'd like to understand the range for this role. |
| जवाब को टालना (अभी बताना नहीं चाहते) | I'm open to discussing it — may I know the budget you have in mind? |
| Number बताना ही पड़े | Based on my experience, I'm looking at around 6 to 7 LPA, but I'm flexible depending on the overall package. |
| Offer कुछ कम लगे | Thank you for the offer. Is there any room for negotiation on the salary? |
| Offer accept करना | Thank you — I'm happy to accept the offer. |
Politeness phrases जो हर जवाब में काम आती हैं
Interview में सीधे "No" बोलना या बिना पूछे मतलब काटना rude लगता है। ये छोटे phrases आपके जवाबों में polite और professional touch देते हैं — HR वाली calls से लेके रोज़ की office बातचीत तक यही चलते हैं:
| Phrase | कब बोलें |
|---|---|
| Could you please repeat the question? | सवाल सुनाई न दे या समझ न आए — polite तरीक़ा दोबारा पूछने का |
| Could you please give me a moment to think? | सोचने का समय चाहिए — यह बोलना चुप रहने से बेहतर है |
| I was wondering if you could tell me more about the team. | अतिरिक्त जानकारी politely माँगने के लिए |
| That's a good question. | मुश्किल सवाल पर एक second लेने के लिए (हर जवाब से पहले मत बोलें) |
| Thank you for your time. | Interview के अंत में — जाने से पहले ज़रूर बोलें |
आम ग़लतियाँ
ये ग़लतियाँ grammar से ज़्यादा habits की हैं — school English और फ़िल्मों से सीखी बातें interview में अजीब लगती हैं। ऐसी ही और ग़लतियों का पूरा collection हमारे Hindi speakers की common mistakes वाले article में है।
① "Respected Sir" वाला पुराना style
Respected Sir, I am standing before you with great pleasure. → Dear Mr. Sharma (email में) या Good morning, Mr. Sharma (बोलकर)। आज के professional English में "Respected Sir" जैसा style कोई नहीं बोलता — यह 1950 की school letter जैसा लगता है। नाम लेकर greet करना modern और respectful दोनों है।
② since और long वाली ग़लती
I am interested in this job since long. → I have been interested in this role for a long time. दो fixes: "interested" वाली feeling शुरू होकर अभी तक चल रही है, इसलिए present perfect — have been। और अवधि (long time) के साथ for आता है, since नहीं।
③ "I am having experience" वाली ग़लती
I am having 5 years experience. → I have 5 years of experience. Possession के लिए simple present — have। यह ग़लती strengths, weakness हर जवाब में घुस जाती है, इसलिए एक बार ठीक कर लें।
④ Interview के आख़िर में कुछ न पूछना
"Do you have any questions for us?" पर "No, sir" कहना बड़ा मौक़ा गँवाना है। एक-दो सवाल तैयार रखें — Could you describe a typical day in this role?, How would you describe the team culture? सवाल पूछने से आपको interest और serious दोनों दिखते हैं।

अक्सर पूछे जाने वाले सवाल
Interview में Hindi बोल सकते हैं?
अगर interviewer ख़ुद Hindi में बात करे या आपको कोई point English में समझाने में दिक़्क़त हो, तो politely बोलें — "May I explain this point in Hindi?" ज़्यादातर interviewers मान लेते हैं। लेकिन पूरा interview Hindi में करने का फ़ैसला उनका होता है, आपका नहीं — इसलिए English practice ज़रूरी है।
HR round और technical round में English कैसे अलग होती है?
HR round में ऊपर बताए सवाल और politeness phrases ज़्यादा आते हैं। Technical round में आपका काम बोलना होता है — "In my last project, I built...", "The challenge was..., so I did..."।
Salary पर पहले range पूछें — I'd like to understand the range for this role। "Respected Sir" की जगह नाम लेकर greet करें, और आख़िर में एक सवाल ज़रूर पूछें।
