A, An, The का Use — हिंदी बोलने वालों के लिए पूरी Guide

छोटा जवाब: हिंदी में articles (a, an, the) exist ही नहीं करते — "मुझे कार चाहिए" में न a आता है न the। इसीलिए English बोलते वक़्त article छूट जाता है (I want car) या ग़लत वाला लग जाता है। इस guide में a/an का sound rule, the का 'वही वाला' वाला logic, और zero article — सब हिंदी वाक्यों से compare करके समझाया गया है।

1मुझे एक umbrella चाहिए — English में:जवाब देखें
A) I need umbrella.
B) I need a umbrella.
C) I need an umbrella.
समझें: umbrella 'अ' (vowel sound) से शुरू होता है, इसलिए an आएगा। और singular countable noun के पहले article छोड़ना भी ग़लती है — 'I need umbrella' नहीं चलेगा।
2वह hour में आएगा — English में:जवाब देखें
A) He will come in an hour.
B) He will come in a hour.
C) He will come in the hour.
समझें: hour में 'h' silent है — उच्चारण 'आवर' है, यानी vowel sound से शुरू। लहज़े (sound) की rule लगती है, letter की नहीं — इसलिए an hour।
3दरवाज़ा खोलो (दोनों को पता है कौन-सा दरवाज़ा) — English में:जवाब देखें
A) Open a door.
B) Open the door.
C) Open door.
समझें: हिंदी में बस 'दरवाज़ा' बोलने से बात हो जाती है, पर जब दोनों लोगों को पता है कि बात किस दरवाज़े की है, तो English में 'वही वाला' — the — ज़रूरी है।
4सूरज पूर्व से निकलता है — English में:जवाब देखें
A) Sun rises in east.
B) A sun rises in the east.
C) The sun rises in the east.
समझें: सूरज एक ही है — unique चीज़ों के साथ हमेशा the आता है: the sun, the moon, the sky। east/west जैसी दिशाओं के साथ भी the लगता है।

समस्या: हिंदी में articles ही नहीं होते

हिंदी के noun के पहले a/an/the जैसा कोई शब्द नहीं आता।

लेकिन English में singular countable noun के पहले हमेशा कुछ न कुछ आना ही चाहिए: a/an/the/my/this… यही फ़र्क़ articles की हर confusion की जड़ है।

याद रखें: ग़लती article का चुनाव लेने में नहीं, article को छोड़ देने में होती है। पहले आदत बनाइए कि हर singular countable noun के पहले कुछ आएगा ही — फिर a/an/the का चुनाव आसान है।

a या an? Sound rule — letter नहीं

Rule याद रखने में बहुत आसान है: a/an उच्चारण (sound) से तय होता है, spelling से नहीं। अगला word जिस sound से शुरू होता है — vowel sound पर an, consonant sound पर a।

Exampleक्यों?
an hour'h' silent है — उच्चारण 'आवर', vowel sound से शुरू
a university'u' है पर उच्चारण 'यू' — 'yu' consonant sound है
an MBAअक्षर M लेकिन उच्चारण 'एम-बी-ए' — vowel sound से शुरू
a European'Eu' = 'यू' sound — consonant sound, इसलिए a
an honest answer'h' silent — 'ऑनिस्ट', vowel sound

English
दूसरी बार ज़िक्र (बात पहले छल चुकी है)एक क़िताब ख़रीदी। वही क़िताब कल ख़त्म कर दूँगा।I bought a book. I'll finish the book tomorrow.
दोनों को पता है कौन-सी चीज़दरवाज़ा खोलो (वही वाला)।Open the door.
दुनिया में एक ही है (unique)सूरज, चाँद, आसमानthe sun, the moon, the sky
Superlative (सबसे…)सबसे अच्छी moviethe best movie
पहचान वाला phrase जुड़ा होवह लड़का जो कल आया थाthe boy who came yesterday

आप के हिंदी में "वही वाला" कहाँ बोला जाएगा, वहीं English में the लगेगा — बस यह सेंस बना लीजिए। पहली बार किसी चीज़ का ज़िक्र हो तो a/an, दूसरी बार और आगे the।

Zero article — कब कुछ नहीं लगाना है

कई जगह English में भी कोई article नहीं लगता — इसे zero article कहते हैं। हिंदी बोलने वाले यहाँ अक्सर उल्टी ग़लती करते हैं: जहाँ कुछ नहीं आना था, वहाँ the लगा देते हैं।

कब zero articleExampleग़लती जो होती है
Plural noun, आम बात (सब कुत्ते)Dogs are loyal.The dogs are loyal (जब ख़ास कुत्तों की बात न हो)
Abstract noun (भावना/गुण)Honesty is the best policy. The honesty is…
खाने के meal (नाश्ता, लंच, डिनर)I have dinner at 8.I have the dinner (specific meal हो तो the ठीक है)
भाषाएँ और subjectsHindi is easy for you. I study maths. The Hindi is easy
खेल के नामWe play cricket every Sunday. We play the cricket

अच्छी ख़बर यह है कि ये जगहें हिंदी से मिलती-जुलती हैं — हिंदी में भी आप यहाँ कुछ नहीं लगाते ("ईमानदारी अच्छी policy है", "मैं क्रिकेट खेलता हूँ")। यानी जहाँ हिंदी में कुछ नहीं लगता और noun सामान्य/आम मतलब में है, वहाँ English में भी ज़्यादातर zero article ही सही है।

हिंदी ↔ English contrast table

नीचे वे आम वाक्य हैं जिनमें हिंदी में article की जगह ही नहीं है, पर English में ज़रूरी है। हर row को बोलकर देखिए — हिंदी वाक्य सुनते ही English रूप मानस में बैठ जाएगा।

हिंदी वाक्यEnglishArticle क्यों
मुझे apple चाहिए।I want an apple.पहला/कोई भी एक — an + vowel sound
मुझे कार चाहिए।I need a car.कोई भी एक car — a
दरवाज़ा खोलो।Open the door.दोनों जानते हैं कौन-सा — the
सूरज पूर्व से निकलता है।The sun rises in the east.Unique चीज़ + दिशा — the
मैं teacher हूँ।I am a teacher.पेशे बताते वक़्त singular countable noun — a
मुझे दूध पसंद है।I like milk.Uncountable noun, आम बात — zero article
बच्चे बाहर खेल रहे हैं। (हमारे बच्चे)The children are playing outside.ख़ास बच्चों की बात — the

एक ही noun ("दरवाज़ा/door") अलग-अलग वाक्यों में a door या the door दोनों बन सकता है — फ़ैसला मतलब से होता है, word से नहीं। "कोई दरवाज़ा खोलो" = Open a door, "वही दरवाज़ा खोलो" = Open the door।

Practice: 5 drill questions

Blank भरिए — a, an, the या कुछ नहीं (zero article)। जवाब देखने से पहले ख़ुद बोलकर तय कीजिए।

1. मैं कल interview दूँगा। → I have ___ interview tomorrow.

जवाब: an interview — 'इन' vowel sound से शुरू, कोई भी एक interview।

2. मुंबई India की सबसे बड़ी city है। → Mumbai is ___ largest city in ___ India.

जवाब: the largest (superlative के साथ हमेशा the), और India के पहले कुछ नहीं — देशों के नाम के साथ ज़्यादातर zero article।

3. वह रोज़ सुबह की walk पर जाती है। → She goes for ___ walk every morning.

जवाब: a walk — 'go for a walk' fixed phrase है।

4. मैंने email भेजी — वही email अब तक नहीं खुली। → I sent ___ email. ___ email still isn't open.

जवाब: पहली बार an email, दूसरी बार (वही वाली) The email — यही the का 'दूसरी बार' वाला rule है।

5. पानी ज़िंदगी है। → ___ water is ___ life.

जवाब: दोनों जगह कुछ नहीं — Water is life।

English में वही context word में आ जाता है: पहली बार / कोई भी एक = a/an, वही वाला / दोनों को पता = the। हर वाक्य में ख़ुद से पूछिए — "सुनने वाला जानता है किस चीज़ की बात है?" जवाब हाँ तो the।

ख़ुलासा

हिंदी में articles नहीं होते, इसलिए English में उन्हें डालना भूल जाते हैं — यही मूल ग़लती है। a/an उच्चारण से (an hour, a university), the 'वही वाला' context से, और आम/abstract बातों में zero article। हर singular countable noun के पहले कुछ आएगा — यह एक आदत बना लीजिए, आधी ग़लतियाँ यहीं ख़त्म हो जाएँगी।
