Structuring a Band 8+ Essay
Consistency is key. Follow this proven four-paragraph template for Task 2:
- Paragraph 1: Introduction (40-50 words)
Strategy: Paraphrase the prompt context, and write a direct thesis statement outlining your viewpoint. - Paragraph 2: Body Paragraph 1 (90-100 words)
Strategy: Topic sentence → explanation → real-world example → linking result sentence. - Paragraph 3: Body Paragraph 2 (90-100 words)
Strategy: Mirror paragraph 2, exploring your second supporting argument. - Paragraph 4: Conclusion (30-40 words)
Strategy: Restate your main stance and summarize the core arguments without introducing new ideas.
